Herons Earn 5-3 Win Against Flamingos
|
The Pembroke Pines Herons beat the Fort Myers Flamingos, 5-3, in 22 innings at JetBlue Park. Pembroke Pines left fielder Samuel Orona had an outstanding performance. He was 3-6 with a double, 2 singles, 4 walks, and was hit by a pitch. Reliever Elroy Brown picked up the win. His record improves to 1-0. Jerry Kelly took the loss. The 8th-place Herons bumped their record to 32-35.
Pembroke Pines needed the clutch hitting of Yeison Díaz to seal the deal. The catcher swatted a 2-run home run in the top of the 22nd inning to put the Herons on top, 5-3. For the game, Díaz had 1 home run and 2 singles in 10 at-bats.
In postgame remarks, Díaz said: "I'm proud of our guys, of their fight."
