Herons Get 8-6 Win Versus Kissimmee
|
Soggy conditions did not keep Pembroke Pines and Kissimmee from playing their scheduled game.
The Pembroke Pines Herons stopped the Kissimmee Kumquats, 8-6, behind an impressive performance from Jasper Sandahl. The 20-year old left fielder made life miserable for Kissimmee pitching. He was 1 for 4 with a home run and a walk. He scored 2 times and drove in 3. Calvin Kuhns was credited with the save. He has now successfully converted 14 of 17 save opportunities.
Fabian Aquino had a big grand slam home run for the Herons in the bottom of the third inning. With Pembroke Pines leading 4-2 and the bases loaded, he sized up a fastball from 19-year old right-handed pitcher Beckett Haddix and punished it. The result was his 7th home run of the season, which put the Herons on top, 8-2.
"Our approach was just to try to see something over the plate and be aggressive," Sandahl told the Pembroke Pines Observer.
The second-place Herons hiked their record to 44-25.
