Pirates Topple Catch, 8-1
The Fort Lauderdale Pirates and starting pitcher Adam Azpera stifled the Oviedo offense en route to a comfortable 8-1 win at Florida Auto Exchange Stadium. Azpera picked up the win for Fort Lauderdale, going 6.1 innings. He gave up 1 run on 6 hits. He now sports a record of 4-0. The 8th-place Pirates are now 36-32, the Catch 23-45.

The Catch had been locked in a 0-0 tie with the Pirates going into the bottom of the fifth inning. That changed quickly when the 19-year old left fielder Dave Jones came to the plate. Jones hit a 3-run home run on a 0-2 curveball from Oviedo hurler Will Sheffield. It was Jones's 1st home run of the year.

Said losing manager Gabriel Anderson: "It's very easy to sit in an ivory tower and critique the pitching, but the bottom line is we need to score runs."
