Dolphins Get Past Gainesville, 3-2
|
The Gainesville Hogs got a sterling performance from pitcher Milton Helms, but the West Palm Beach Dolphins still prevailed, 3-2. Helms threw 6.1 innings of 3-hit ball. West Palm Beach reliever Noël Flores was the winner. His record is now 1-3. The losing pitcher was Seba Frias. Gray Whitmarsh nailed down the save.
West Palm Beach used the timely hitting of Henry Ashburn to seize the win. The right fielder stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the eighth inning to put the Dolphins on top, 3-2. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.
"You have to win 1-0, 3-2, 2-1 games if you want to get to where you want to go," said Dolphins manager Cris Mendoza.
West Palm Beach is now 34-36, Gainesville 21-49.
