The Fort Myers Flamingos dealt the Clearwater Threshers a 6-5 loss at Pirate City Complex. Alan Lazarus was the star on offense. He went 3 for 5 with a home run and 2 singles. He drove in 4 runs and scored once. Luke Herrera earned the save, his 2nd, for the Flamingos. The win gives the Flamingos a record of 19-49.
Fort Myers catcher Leo Iwahara contributed a timely at-bat in the top of the seventh. With two down, he hit a fastball to right field for a run-scoring single. It was his 51st hit of the season and put the Flamingos ahead, 6-4.
"Not to put too fine a point on it," said Lazarus, "but we really needed that win."
