The Mermen faced a stiff challenge from Oaxaca pitcher Paxton Aston, but persevered to claim a win at Last Call Park. The final score was 2-1. Aston went 6 innings and allowed no runs. Dustin Kraft earned the save for Puebla, his 3rd of the year. The loss drops the Cervezas to 4-6.

Puebla used the timely hitting of Alan Lafer to seize the win. The shortstop stroked a 2-run single in the top of the eighth inning to put the Mermen on top, 2-1. It was his only hit in 3 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.

"That's baseball," said Oaxaca manager Sebastian Spring. "Sometimes the other team plays better than yours."
