The Burlington Sock Puppets topped the Billings Mustangs, 5-4, in Pioneer League action at Brent Brown Ballpark. The game was highlighted by the performance of Burlington first baseman E.J. Canuel. Helios Butler, now 1-1, picked up the win in relief. He allowed no runs on no hits in 2 innings. The Sock Puppets saw their win-loss record go to 16-51. At the same time, the Mustangs fell to 34-33.
Up to bat in the bottom of the ninth, 22-year old first baseman Len Wright had a chance to be the hero. Billings pitcher Barack Mason had other ideas. But with one out, Wright drew a walk, driving in 1 run. The Sock Puppets had themselves a dramatic win.
"We need to get rid of the bad mojo," said Wright. "Maybe this win will help."
