Win Extends Chihuahuas Lead to 3-1 Over Express
|
The El Paso Chihuahuas moved to within one game of the Divisional Series today, downing the Round Rock Express on the road at Dell Diamond by a score of 4-1. Chihuahuas right-hander Broadway Ward had a strong outing. He threw 5.0 innings of shutout ball. The win gives the Chihuahuas a 3-1 advantage in the best-of-7 Wild Card Series.
With no one out in the top of the sixth, Timo Mestaz lit into a forkball from Michael Secrest for a 2-run home run. That made the score 2-0 in favor of the Chihuahuas. For the day, Mestaz was 1-4 with a home run. He drove in 2 runs and scored once.
"I'm trying to keep it simple," said Ward. "Just do my job."
The next game is set to be played tomorrow at Dell Diamond in Round Rock.
