Fort Myers took on Fort Lauderdale in a contest which featured a pitchers' duel. William Gerken, in particular, was fantastic. The Fort Myers right-hander helped his team snag the win, 3-1. The Flamingos now have a record of 16-47.
Nick DeVries took Fort Lauderdale hurler Tommy Coyle deep in the bottom of the fourth. His 2-run home run put the Flamingos on top, 2-0. In all, DeVries had 1 single in addition to the home run, while going 2 for 4.
"William gave us a huge shot in the arm," said Fort Myers manager Benjamino Parez.
