Flamingos Fall, 3-2, to Boca Raton
|
Fans saw a dandy of a game between the Boca Raton Buccaneers and Fort Myers Flamingos.
The bats were silent much of the day at JetBlue Park. But 19-year old second baseman Frodo Ramírez produced just enough offense to carry the Buccaneers past the Fort Myers Flamingos, 3-2. Ramírez went 2 for 4 with a home run, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once. Biff Zantow picked up the win in relief for Boca Raton, while Eli Floriberto took the loss. Shayne Frazier got credit for the save for Boca Raton. It was his 3rd of the year.
Ramírez had a timely hit for Boca Raton in the top of the seventh. With Boca Raton trailing 2-1, he turned a first pitch splitter into a 2-run home run. It was his 10th home run of the season, making it 3-2, Boca Raton.
"That's baseball," said Fort Myers manager Benjamino Parez. "You're not always going to be hitting on all cylinders."
After today's action, Boca Raton sits at 31-32; Fort Myers slips to 28-35.
