Hollywood Makes It 7 Straight with 7-6 Win
|
Hollywood left fielder J.D. Cano was a significant contributor in his team's 7-6 triumph over the Boca Raton Buccaneers. He was 3 for 5 with a home run and 2 singles, while scoring 2 and driving in 3 for Hollywood. Justin Wells earned the win after being called from the bullpen. The right-hander allowed no runs on 1 hit in 2 innings. He upped his record to 2-0. Murdock Chronister earned the save for Hollywood, his 4th of the year.
The game was at a stalemate until pinch hitter Ed Renteria came to bat in the top of the eighth. Facing Boca Raton pitcher Oliver Ritter, he hit a 0-1 curveball for a run-scoring single. It was a game-changer, putting Hollywood on top, 7-6.
"I don't care about style points," Cano said. "I only care about winning."
The third-place Spoonbills improved to 43-24.
