Spoonbills Score Late, Top Herons, 6-2
|
Hollywood and Pembroke Pines put this game in the books despite some rain.
The Pembroke Pines Herons got a sterling performance from pitcher Clark Edwards, but the Hollywood Spoonbills still prevailed, 6-2. Edwards threw 5.2 innings of shutout ball. Hollywood bumps their record to 40-23 with the win.
Luca Rourke drew 1 walk for Hollywood. The 20-year old third baseman had a key at-bat in the bottom of the eighth. With two out and the bases loaded, he broke a 2-2 tie with a run-scoring walk off Samuel Mateos. It was his 20th walk of the season.
"They had a good approach," Pembroke Pines skipper Juwan Henry said of the opposition. "Hats off to them."
