Nelson Helps Sun Dogs Beat Gales, 9-4
|
The Hialeah Gales and Miramar Sun Dogs left the fans buzzing.
Frank Nelson batted in 4 runs to lead Miramar to a win over Hialeah. The final score was 9-4. Nelson chipped in 2 singles and 1 home run. Doyle Mason, who went 6.2 innings, was the winning pitcher. He was charged with 1 run on 5 hits, while walking 2 and striking out 11. His record now stands at 4-6.
Lynn Billinger had a big 2-run double for the Sun Dogs in the bottom of the third inning. With Miramar leading 1-0 and the bases loaded, he got a fastball from 19-year old left-handed pitcher Bobby Hanna and swatted a double to left. It was his 12th double of the season, and more importantly, it put the Sun Dogs ahead, 3-0.
"Frank showed up tonight," said Miramar manager Gabriƫl de Koning.
Today's win puts Miramar at 30-33, while Hialeah falls to 28-35.
