The Daytona Beach Hurricanes beat the Clearwater Threshers, 4-0, at Osceola County Stadium. Daytona Beach center fielder Cedric Sims led the way. He went 2-4 with a home run, while adding 3 RBI and scoring once. Juan Desalba notched his 1st save in 1 chances. With the win, Daytona Beach goes to 32-30, while the Threshers fall to 18-44.

Daytona Beach took a 4-0 lead on Sims's 5th home run of the season. The 3-run home run, which he hit off Kevin Mitchell in the bottom of the eighth, propelled Daytona Beach to the win.

"I thought we played a nice game," Sims told the Daytona Beach Chronicle. "Good pitching, timely hitting, it was all there."
