Threshers Take Tight Tangle
|
R.J. Ford batted in 3 runs to lead Clearwater to a win over Fort Lauderdale. The final score was 6-5. Ford chipped in 2 singles and 1 home run. The win was credited to 19-year old right-handed pitcher Marcall Monico in relief. His record improves to 2-4. Morgan Pliego took the loss. The Threshers have now reeled off 7 straight wins.
It could have been a different outcome for Clearwater, had it not been for Yunal Campos, the 18-year old shortstop . Campos contributed a run-scoring single in the top of the ninth inning to put Clearwater up, 6-5.
Said Clearwater manager Ted Williams: "At the end of the day, these guys have to perform between the lines, and I think they did."
