Hammerheads Win Nail-Biter, 3-2

Cape Coral overcame a heroic effort from Nicholas Sears to down Key Largo, 3-2, in 15 innings. The Key Largo pitcher threw 6.2 innings of 4-hit ball. Cape Coral reliever Zach Rettino picked up the win, upping his record to 2-1. Samson Guenther was saddled with the loss. Cape Coral now sits at 25-30, while Key Largo falls to 27-28.
With the bases empty in the bottom of the ninth, Theodore Valdes delivered the knockout blow when he hit a solo home run to win it for Cape Coral. In the contest, Valdes was 3 for 7 with a home run and 2 singles.
"Our fans made themselves heard," said Valdes.
