Blue Jays Sting Smokies, 4-3
|
The Bluefield Blue Jays did just enough to secure a victory over the Harlan Smokies, 4-3, at Bowen Field. Nobody did more than pitcher Nate Johnson. Bluefield is 6th in the Appalachian League East Division with a record of 31-37.
In the bottom of the sixth, Bluefield first baseman Robert Rubio gave his team the lead. With one out and runners on 1st and 2nd, Hard Times hit his 9th home run of the year. Harlan pitcher Theodoric San Martin surrendered it. With that, the Blue Jays jumped in front, 4-2.
"We're feeling good in this clubhouse right now after that one," Rubio told the Bluefield Times.
