Chiefs Throttle Pioneers, 7-1

Riding the 2-hit performance of the 22-year old left fielder Raymond Fleming, the Cheyenne Chiefs stopped the Pocatello Pioneers, 7-1, in 9 innings. Cheyenne pitcher Wilson Gutiérrez got the win. He's now 6-2. Steven Lomeli was tagged with the loss. Cheyenne has now won 5 games in a row.
Donaldo Cruz had a big run-scoring triple for the Chiefs in the bottom of the second inning. With Cheyenne leading 1-0 and a runner on 1st, he got a changeup from 18-year old right-handed pitcher Steven Lomeli and swatted a triple to right-center. It was his 1st triple of the season, and more importantly, it put the Chiefs ahead, 2-0.
"Whatever it takes to win," said Cruz. "That's our attitude."
