Sock Puppets Use Late Score to Top Chukars, 7-6
|
Fans watched the Burlington Sock Puppets and the Idaho Falls Chukars fight to the finish.
Jonny Tanner led Burlington to a win over Idaho Falls. The final score was 7-6. Tanner, who is tied for 4th in the PIO in bases on balls with 29, collected 2 runs batted in, while going 3 for 4 at the plate. The right fielder also scored 2 times. Theo Lee locked down his 13th save.
The game was all tied up in the top of the eighth, until Tanner delivered big-time for Burlington, stroking a dramatic 2-run single off Isaac Wachtman. The game-changing hit put the Sock Puppets on top, 6-4.
"What's not to like about a win?" said Tanner.
Burlington, at 29-34, occupies 6th place in the Pioneer League South Division.
