Mets Use Late-Game Magic to Beat Braves, 2-1
|
Kingsport Mets left-hander Charley Weer pitched a good game against the Danville Braves at American Legion Field, leading his team to victory, 2-1. With the victory, the Mets upped their record to 41-27.
Kingsport used a timely hit from Vince Auther to get the win. The pinch hitter stroked a run-scoring double in the top of the ninth inning to put the Mets ahead, 2-1. It was his only hit in 1 at-bat, but it made an impact.
"Sometimes a win comes easy," Auther told the Kingsport Bulletin. "And sometimes you have to scratch and claw."
