Miners Net 1-0 Win Over Chiefs
|
Right-hander Marc Galicia mesmerized the Cheyenne Chiefs while leading the Welch Miners to a 1-0 victory. The winning pitcher was Galicia, now 6-2. He tossed 6.1 innings of 4-hit ball, while walking 0 and fanning 7. Beckett Strosser earned the save, his 3rd, for the Miners.
Marcelo Bermudez, the 21-year old second baseman , had a direct impact on the outcome. Bermudez contributed a run-scoring single in the top of the fourth inning to put Welch up, 1-0.
"Some of the guys in here work hard, some of the guys just kind of fall out of bed and get it done. Whatever works I guess, we won this one," Bermudez told the Welch Chronicle.
The 8th-place Miners are now 30-36, the Chiefs 40-26.
