Braves Edge Past Stampede, 1-0
|
The Danville Braves topped the Medicine Hat Stampede, 1-0, in Appalachian League action at American Legion Field. The game was highlighted by the performance of Danville pitcher J.R. Rogers. The 5th-place Braves improved to 32-34.
Had Vincent Schmidt not delivered a key base hit in the bottom of the eighth, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and runners on 1st and 2nd, Schmidt hit a run-scoring single. That made the score 1-0, in favor of the Braves.
"J.R. did a tremendous job," said Danville manager Greg Jones.
