Indians Victors, 5-1, at Medicine Hat
|
John Howerton imposed his will on the Stampede from the get-go. Relying mainly on his fastball, the right-hander spearheaded the 5-1 Pueblo triumph. Howerton picked up the win for Pueblo, going 6 innings. He gave up 1 run on 5 hits. He now sports a record of 1-0. Pueblo improves to 45-15 with the win. They lead their division by 2½ games.
Pueblo used a well-timed hit by Aaron Graves to capture the win. The designated hitter socked a 2-run double in the top of the third inning to put the Indians ahead, 3-0. Though it was his only hit in 4 at-bats, it was important.
"If I go out there and help the team win, that's all you can do," said Howerton.
