Smokies Edge Past Indians, 4-3
|
Harlan beat Kinston at Ballpark of Kinston, escaping with a 4-3 win. The win in large part was due to third baseman Jonathan Hackl. He was 2 for 4 with 2 home runs, while adding 3 RBI and scoring twice. The Smokies, at 46-18, sit in first place in the Appalachian League West Division.
Harlan relied on the hitting of Blake Wong to pick up the win. The center fielder ripped a run-scoring single in the top of the eighth inning to put the Smokies on top, 4-3. For the game, Wong had 1 triple and 1 single in 4 at-bats.
"We'll hit the hot tub in good spirits tonight," said Wong.
