Avila Homers Twice in 10-9 Bananas Win
The Savannah Bananas turned back the Greenville Drive, 10-9, at Fluor Field at the West End. Jake Avila, in particular, had a fine performance. He went 3-5 with 2 home runs and a double, while scoring 3 runs and driving in 2. Savannah reliever André Serrano snagged the win, upping his record to 4-1. Gerardo Ochoa shouldered the loss. Christián Sánchez picked up the save for Savannah, his 1st of the year.

Savannah won the game in part because of Jacky Hayes. The right fielder ripped a 3-run home run in the top of the third inning to put the Bananas ahead, 5-1. For the game, Hayes had 1 double and 1 home run in 5 at-bats.

"We maximized our offense today," said Savannah skipper Jeison Trujillo. "That makes everyone's life easier."

The second-place Bananas bumped their record to 75-61.
