Power Topple Hot Rods, 4-3
|
The Bowling Green Hot Rods could not turn a fine performance from catcher Lonnie Trester into a win. Instead, the West Virginia Power prevailed, 4-3. Trester was 1 for 2 with a home run and 2 walks. He scored 2 runs. Joel Roll, now 3-5, was credited with the win in 2 innings of relief. He allowed 1 run on 2 hits, while striking out 3 and walking 0. Their 66-67 record puts the Power 5th in the South Atlantic League Northwest Division.
West Virginia took a 4-3 lead on Rob Regan's 5th home run of the season. The 2-run home run, which Regan hit in the bottom of the eighth, left Bowling Green pitcher Jay Hudgens visibly frustrated.
In postgame comments to the West Virginia Daily News, Regan said, "Our goal is to stack wins."
