8-1 Win Gets Kannapolis to 89-47
|
The Kannapolis Intimidators defeated the West Virginia Power, 8-1. Doing his part was right fielder Timo Pérez, who went 3 for 4 with a double, 2 singles, and 2 walks, while scoring 2. Pluto Benedith was the winner. Over 6 innings, he allowed 1 run on 5 hits, with 1 walk and 2 strikeouts. Oscar Champoux collected his 3rd save.
Ric Acevedo, the 24-year old shortstop , had a direct impact on the outcome. Acevedo contributed a run-scoring walk in the top of the first inning to put Kannapolis up, 3-0.
"You've got to ride the highs and the lows in baseball in order to succeed," Pérez told the Kannapolis Daily. "Right now I'm feeling good, but that don't mean squat for tomorrow."
The Intimidators sport a record of 89-47.
