Hot Rods Score Late, Clip Catfish, 2-1
|
Columbus wasted a solid 5-inning effort from starting pitcher Shepherd Owens, losing to Bowling Green, 2-1, at Bowling Green Ballpark. The save went to Jasper Hite, number 20 for him. The 6th-place Hot Rods improved to 69-64.
Bowling Green took the lead, 2-1, in the bottom of the eighth inning. With two out, designated hitter Irving Rodriguez hit a solo home run that set the crowd abuzz.
"Good ballgame," said Columbus manager Francisco Avalos. "But we came up on the short end."
