Bananas Prevail, 3-1, Over Augusta
|
Savannah Bananas starter Oscar Thomas worked his magic, to help his team defeat the Augusta GreenJackets, 3-1. Thomas picked up the win for Savannah, going 7.1 innings. He gave up 1 run on 3 hits. He now sports a record of 12-3. Hal Wood was credited with the save for Savannah, his 18th of the season.
The Bananas got a big at-bat from first baseman Tom Jeffcoat. For the game, Jeffcoat went 1 for 4 with a double. He drove in 2 runs and scored once. In the bottom of the third, with runners on 2nd and 3rd, he stroked a 2-run double. His 23rd double of the season gave Savannah a 2-1 lead.
"I tell our guys all the time, 'Every pitch is the right pitch if you put it in the right place, you believe in it and have conviction,'" Savannah manager Ryan McMullen said.
The win makes Savannah 87-48.
