Catfish Fell Braves, 4-2
|
Columbus Catfish starter Joel Corpeno hurled his team past the Rome Braves, 4-2. Columbus reliever Vern O'Neal picked up the win, upping his record to 7-2. Vinny Canessa shouldered the loss. R.J. Sousa earned the save for Columbus, his 32nd of the year.
Making an impact for the home team was Duaner Barrera. In the bottom of the sixth, the 24-year old third baseman had a run-scoring ground out. That made the score 4-2, Catfish.
After the game, Columbus manager Francisco Avalos applauded the team's effort. "They busted their humps out there," he said.
The Catfish raised their record to 63-67.
