Behind a solid performance from catcher Ben Rayford, the Columbia Fireflies defeated the Lakewood BlueClaws, 4-0. Rayford was 2 for 3 with 2 home runs, while adding 4 RBI and scoring twice for the Fireflies. Noel Anderson picked up the win with 6 innings of work. He allowed no runs on 4 hits, while walking 2 and striking out 6. On the season, he is now 6-3. Emil Beniquez nailed down his 1st save.

Rayford had a game-changing home run in the bottom of the sixth. On a 1-0 changeup from Evan Kingsley, he banged a solo home run to left-center, giving the Fireflies a 1-0 lead. It was the 9th home run of the year for Rayford.

"Nice win for us," said Rayford. "Now we'll go after the next one."
