Paquet Strokes 5 Hits
|
After a 5-hit effort to lead Savannah's 16-3 victory over the Columbus Catfish, center fielder Joshua Paquet told BNN beat writers it had been "a special day."
"It really doesn't matter whether it's sandlot ball, high school or college, two hits in a game is nice," he said. "Three or four is better, but five or more is out of sight. And to do that at the Single A-level is really something special."
The 21-year-old player earned his accolades at Progressive Field with a spectacular 5-for-6 game against the Catfish.
"His swing is getting there," said Bananas skipper Ryan McMullen, who spoke glowingly of Paquet after the game. "We want him to be quick with his swing, short and compact. We want him to be patient and go the other way when he can. Joshua did that to perfection."
Joshua Paquet singled in the 1st, hit an RBI single in the 2nd, grounded out in the 4th, singled in the 7th, hit an RBI single in the 8th and singled in the 9th.
On the season, Paquet is batting .292 with 12 home runs and 48 RBIs. He has played in 111 games.
