Talley Goes on Rampage Against Catfish
|
It's not something you read about in the sports pages every day -- a 5-for-5 day. For many, it might come around only once in a career -- and for Michael Talley, it came around today.
The 21-year-old center fielder scattered hits all over Progressive Field to pace the Hickory Crawdads to a 7-3 victory over the Columbus Catfish.
Columbus skipper Francisco Avalos told reporters in the press room that "Talley deserves a hat-tip."
"He hit some good pitches against us," he said. "In fact, according to our scouting reports, Talley hit several that he is not supposed to be able to hit."
Michael Talley singled in the 1st, hit an RBI triple in the 3rd, singled in the 5th, doubled in the 7th and singled in the 9th.
Hitting .292 to date, Talley has 1 home run and 46 RBIs. He has played in 116 games.
