Missions Clipped, 5-2
|
The San Antonio Missions and St. Petersburg Flying Squirrels delighted fans at The Diamond.
Behind the bravura of shortstop Parker Tanner, the St. Petersburg Flying Squirrels topped the San Antonio Missions by the score of 5-2. Tanner went 3 for 4 with a triple and 2 singles, while adding 4 RBI for the Flying Squirrels. Luca Goff got the save, his 16th in 20 chances.
Tanner had a game-changing triple in the bottom of the eighth. On a full count fastball from Juan Acevedo, he banged a bases-clearing triple to right-center, giving the Flying Squirrels a 5-2 lead. It was the 2nd triple of the year for Tanner.
"We understand we didn't play our best baseball," said losing manager Matt Bruno. "We'll shower it off and be ready to compete."
St. Petersburg is now 65-71, while San Antonio is 39-97.
