The Midland RockHounds spoiled a good performance by Mississippi first baseman Lindley Schutt, bumping off Mississippi, 8-7, at Trustmark Park. Schutt went 2 for 3 with a home run and 2 walks, while adding 3 RBI and scoring once. Ermias Bias, the winner, goes to 7-6. He allowed 2 runs on 3 hits, with 3 walks and 4 strikeouts over 5.1 innings. Pingo Rondan earned his 21st save in 21 tries.

Midland used the hitting of Marques Pfluger to pick up the win. The second baseman clubbed a 3-run home run in the top of the fourth inning to put the RockHounds on top, 4-1. For the game, Pfluger had 1 home run and 1 single in 5 at-bats.
