Wable Lifts Smokies to 7-6 Win
|
The Tennessee Smokies stopped the Frisco RoughRiders, 7-6, at Dr. Pepper Ballpark. The Smokies got a big game from Connor Wable, who was 3 for 4 with a home run, 2 singles, and a walk, while scoring 3 and driving in 3. Duffy Rensch earned the win after being summoned from the bullpen. The right-hander allowed no runs on 1 hit in 1.2 innings. His record is now 1-1. The Smokies are now 52-73, while the RoughRiders fall to 75-50.
Tennessee used the timely hitting of Jimmy Pok to seize the win. The third baseman stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the ninth inning to put the Smokies on top, 7-6. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.
"Winning is not something we take for granted," Wable said.
