RockHounds Topple Hooks with Late Rally
The Corpus Christi Hooks and Midland RockHounds riveted fans at Security Bank Ballpark.

RockHounds right fielder Rich Oquendo left his mark on his team's 8-6 win over the Corpus Christi Hooks. Oquendo went 2-3 with a home run, a double, and was hit by a pitch. He scored 2 runs and drove in 3 for Midland in the contest. Dustin Cale, who is tied for 6th in the SL in saves with 25, earned the win in relief. The right-hander allowed no runs on no hits in 2.1 innings. He upped his record to 4-4.

The game was at a stalemate until left fielder Joquel Aguirre came to bat in the bottom of the eighth. Facing Corpus Christi pitcher Caleb Lewis, he hit a first pitch fastball for a 2-run single. It was a game-changer, putting Midland on top, 8-6.

"We're producers not directors," said Oquendo. "Produce a good swing. Can't direct where it goes."

With the win, Midland pushed its record to 67-61.
