Flying Squirrels Tag Aces with 2-1 Loss
|
In a low-scoring contest between the St. Petersburg Flying Squirrels and the Alexandria Aces, Charlie Frazer, who is tied for 8th in the SL with a 7.9 K/9 rate, proved to be the difference. The St. Petersburg right-hander earned props for his performance in the 2-1 Flying Squirrels win. Frazer yielded no runs over 5.1 innings to notch the win. He scattered 3 hits, walked 2, and struck out 3. His record improves to 7-7. Dael Pennington, credited with the save, is now 27 for 31 in save opportunities.
Brendan Huls had a direct impact on the outcome. Huls contributed a 2-run single in the top of the second inning to put St. Petersburg up, 2-0.
"Tough loss," said Alexandria manager Gil Mitchell. "But that's how the cookie crumbles."
St. Petersburg is second in the Southern League Southeast Division with a record of 77-46.
