Scouts Score Late to Beat Engineers, 5-4
|
Chattanooga beat Shreveport at AT&T Field, eking out a 5-4 win. The triumph was primarily due to first baseman Brandon Warner. He went 2-3 with a home run and a walk, while adding 3 RBI and scoring once. Brandon Ledezma picked up the win in relief. His record improves to 4-7. Jordan Glover suffered the loss. Jhoulys Cervantes closed it out for his 4th save.
Victor Valderas drew 2 walks in 4 trips to the plate for Chattanooga. The 27-year old first baseman had a key at-bat in the bottom of the eighth. With one out and runners on 2nd and 3rd, he broke a 4-4 tie with a run-scoring sacrifice fly off Jordan Glover. It was his 45th RBI of the season.
"We had the game right there for the taking," said Shreveport manager Serge Olivero. "But we decided not to take it."
With this game in the books, Chattanooga is 51-72, Shreveport 75-48.
