5 Straight Wins for Jumbo Shrimp
|
The Jacksonville Jumbo Shrimp defeated the Shreveport Engineers, 5-2, in part because of second baseman Eddie Perlman. Perlman went 2 for 5 with 2 doubles, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once for the Jumbo Shrimp. The Southern League Southeast Division-leading Jumbo Shrimp have a record of 95-26.
Jacksonville grabbed the momentum in the bottom of the fifth, when Perlman hit a run-scoring double off Rob Harp. His 8th double of the season put the Jumbo Shrimp out in front, 2-1.
Jacksonville manager Craig Lauer was pleased with the team's effort. "Our guys played hard," he said.
