Engineers Run Win Streak to 10
|
Shreveport pitcher Simon Santiago had a large part in his team beating the Tulsa Drillers, 2-0. The right-hander kept opposing batters in check throughout the game. Santiago yielded no runs over 7.2 innings to notch the win. He scattered 6 hits, walked 3, and struck out 4. His record improves to 10-5. Shreveport, now 72-47, has stretched its winning streak to 10 games.
With scoring opportunities rare, the Engineers had to cash in when they had the chance. One such opportunity presented itself in the bottom of the fifth, when first baseman Roderick Freeman hit a run-scoring single. The single came off Teodor Estevez and made the score 2-0, Engineers. Freeman went 4-4 with a double and 3 singles.
"I wouldn't want to be playing us right now," said Shreveport manager Serge Olivero.
