Fans were not deterred by the threat of rain. They came to see their hometown Chattanooga Scouts take on the Tennessee Smokies.

In a low-scoring clash between Tennessee and Chattanooga, pitcher Armando Sánchez was a difference-maker. The right-hander earned praise for his performance in the 2-0 Smokies win. Tennessee is now 58-56, Chattanooga 59-55.

It was a remarkable effort from Sánchez, who is one of the team leaders. Sánchez recorded 4 strikeouts in 6.2 innings while allowing 1 hit. Sánchez moves to 3-2 on the year with 27 strikeouts.

"Sometimes a win comes easy," Sánchez told the Tennessee Observer. "And sometimes you have to scratch and claw."
