Bustillos Leads Flying Squirrels to 7-0 Win Over Smokies
|
Dedicated fans weathered the storm to watch their beloved Flying Squirrels beat the Smokies.
With Sebastian Bustillos leading the charge, the St. Petersburg Flying Squirrels defeated the Tennessee Smokies, 7-0. Bustillos was 4-5 with a home run and 3 singles, while scoring 3 and driving in 4 for the Flying Squirrels. The win went to Roman Aguila in relief. His record improves to 3-0. Caleb Cox took the loss.
St. Petersburg catcher Coy Murphy contributed a timely at-bat in the bottom of the fifth. With two down, he hit a fastball to center field for a run-scoring single. It was his 89th hit of the season and put the Flying Squirrels ahead, 2-0.
"There's ebbs and flows in the season and right now we're just looking to finish strong," said Murphy.
St. Petersburg is sailing along at 80-36.
