The Tennessee Smokies topped the Arkansas Travelers, 8-5, in Southern League action at Dickey-Stephens Park. The standout performance belonged to Tennessee pitcher and Melbourne, Australia, native Matthew De Gado. The winning pitcher was De Gado, now 4-0. He tossed 7 innings of 5-hit ball, while walking 1 and fanning 6. The Smokies raised their record to 60-52.

Tennessee used a well-timed hit by Dylan Dangerfield to capture the win. The center fielder socked a bases-clearing double in the top of the second inning to put the Smokies ahead, 4-1. Though it was his only hit in 5 at-bats, it was important.

"We did a lot of good things tonight," said Tennessee manager Kraig Fagan.
