The Montgomery Biscuits and Frisco RoughRiders completed their game despite the rain.
Howard Burns, who is tied for 9th in the SL in extra base hits with 40, led Montgomery to a win over Frisco. The final score was 7-5. Burns scored 3 times, while going 3 for 5. The center fielder also was credited with 1 RBI. Scott Smith, the winner, goes to 8-4. He allowed 3 runs on 7 hits, with 1 walk and 9 strikeouts over 5.2 innings.
Montgomery used a clutch at-bat from Joel Shelly to capture the win. The first baseman hammered a 3-run home run in the top of the fifth inning to put the Biscuits ahead, 7-2. It was his lone hit in 3 at-bats, but it was a humdinger.
"Nice win for us," said Burns. "Now we'll go after the next one."
The second-place Biscuits now sit at 67-44.
