Ogg Hits Two Homers in 5-1 Win for Jacksonville
|
Jacksonville defeated San Antonio, 5-1, in large part due to 23-year old left fielder John Ogg. Ogg drove in 3 runs. The right fielder had 1 double and 2 home runs for the Jumbo Shrimp. Kurt Scheer, the winning pitcher, is now 3-0. He went 6.2 innings, allowing 1 run on 1 hit, while fanning 3 and walking 0. The second-place Jumbo Shrimp have won 4 straight games.
Jacksonville used a clutch at-bat from Billy Rodgers to capture the win. The first baseman hammered a 2-run home run in the top of the fourth inning to put the Jumbo Shrimp ahead, 2-0. It was his lone hit in 3 at-bats, but it was a humdinger.
Rodgers attributed the win to "an all-around good team performance."
