Aces Roll to 8-3 Win Over Jumbo Shrimp
|
A nice crowd turned out for a clash between the Alexandria Aces and Jacksonville Jumbo Shrimp.
In the 8-3 Alexandria win over Jacksonville, the impact of Ezra Peters was substantial. Peters, who was drafted in the 2nd round of the 2059 draft, was 1-4 with a home run and was hit by a pitch, while adding 4 RBI and scoring once. Johnny Misner was the winning pitcher. Over 6.1 innings, he allowed 3 runs on 6 hits, with 1 walk and 2 strikeouts. Michael Robinson notched his 1st save in 2 chances.
In the top of the seventh, the Aces grabbed the lead when Peters hit his 3rd home run of the season. The grand slam home run off Rogelio Nuñez made it 6-3, Alexandria.
"They beat us fair and square," Jacksonville skipper Brady Reece said.
Their 59-53 record puts the Aces 5th in the Southern League Texas Division.
