Shuckers Lose to Shreveport, 6-1
|
The Shreveport Engineers stymied the Biloxi Shuckers, 6-1, at Engineers Ballpark. Inigo Villalobos had a good day at the plate. He slugged 2 home runs. He drove in 3 runs and scored twice for Shreveport. The winning pitcher was Keith Weatherspoon. He's now 1-2. He went 5 innings, allowing 1 run on 4 hits for the Engineers. The setback makes Biloxi 47-58.
Lance Beckman had a big run-scoring double for the Engineers in the bottom of the third inning. With Shreveport leading 1-0 and a runner on 1st, he got a fastball from 22-year old left-handed pitcher Parker Brown and swatted a double to left. It was his 21st double of the season, and more importantly, it put the Engineers ahead, 2-0.
Said losing manager Júlio Sánchez: "The list goes on and on of things we just flat out didn't do."
