Montgomery Biscuits starter Zach Merrifield turned in an exceptional performance against the St. Petersburg Flying Squirrels at The Diamond, resulting in a Montgomery win, 4-1. Merrifield picked up the win for Montgomery, going 6 innings. He gave up 1 run on 5 hits. He now sports a record of 2-0.

Tony Gomez, the 26-year old catcher , had a direct impact on the outcome. Gomez contributed a 2-run single in the top of the second inning to put Montgomery up, 2-1.
