Wise Stars for Sounds in 5-4 Win
|
In a close game at First Tennessee Park, the Nashville Sounds edged the Tacoma Rainiers, 5-4. Nashville center fielder Clifford Wise stood apart with his performance. He went 4 for 4 with a home run and 3 singles, while scoring 2 times and driving in 2. The winning pitcher was Earl Barrett. His record now stands at 12-8. The right-hander went 7 innings, allowing 4 runs on 5 hits for the Sounds. Tristan Swiderski earned the save for Nashville, his 26th.
With Nashville leading 3-1 in the bottom of the fifth, Wise hit a cutter from J. David Thomas for a 2-run home run. It was his 1st home run of the season and put the Sounds ahead, 5-1.
"We found a way to get it done," Wise said.
Nashville currently is in 4th place in the Pacific Coast League American Divison at 70-66.
