Baby Cakes Take Tight Tilt, 3-2
|
In a low-scoring game between the New Orleans Baby Cakes and the Evansville Triplets, pitcher John Puron was the difference-maker. The New Orleans right-hander was tough as nails in the 3-2 Baby Cakes win. Vic Gerber closed the door for New Orleans, picking up his 15th save of the year. The win gives New Orleans a season record of 73-61.
New Orleans won the game in part because of Paul Madison. The center fielder ripped a 2-run home run in the top of the ninth inning to put the Baby Cakes ahead, 3-1. For the game, Madison had 1 double and 1 home run in 3 at-bats.
"Honestly, I'm not frustrated," said Evansville manager Mike McGarry. "The effort was great."
