With Late Score, Triplets Beat Cubs

Evansville right-hander Bobby Bender helped his team edge Iowa by the score of 2-1. Bender kept the opposing lineup in check. Dan Rendine got credit for the win, improving to 4-0. He allowed no runs on no hits in 2.2 innings. The win puts Evansville at 82-52 this season.
Rick Crosby came through with a big-time hit for Evansville. The pinch hitter smacked a solo home run in the top of the ninth inning to give his team the lead, 2-1. It was his only hit, but it was clutch.
"Bobby -- his tempo and rhythm were good," said Triplets manager Tony Newcastle. "He was the key to us winning."
